The Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO–JIJUKIRWA) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of young people, women, and children in Rwanda. Established in 1996 at the former National University of Rwanda, the organization was founded in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Its creation was driven by the urgent need to prevent future generations from falling victim to manipulation, division, and human rights violations.<br>Since its inception, AJPRODHO–JIJUKIRWA has remained committed to promoting and protecting human rights through a comprehensive approach that includes research, advocacy, civic education, economic empowerment, and strengthening civil society. The organization envisions a peaceful and inclusive society where young people actively participate in promoting social justice and enjoy decent living conditions.
Over the years, AJPRODHO–JIJUKIRWA has grown from a small initiative into a nationally recognized organization, currently implementing programs across 16 districts in four provinces and the City of Kigali. Its work continues to focus on empowering vulnerable populations, fostering community resilience, and contributing to sustainable development through human rights-based approaches.
